The Church is the Seed-Bed for Missionaries! There is so much that
can be done right from home.
1)
Pass this site (www.missionactionguide.com)
on to pastors and church members you know. Then pray eagerly
for them to catch the vision.
2)
Warm up with a small group. Build a Global
Mission Action Team to pray, study and go out together.
3)
Bring Missions Into Every Church
Program. Missions is not to be a program in the church, it
is THE program of the church. Network with those in charge
of different programs to help them bring missions into what they
do.
Library: Get mission books, magazines and videos and encourage
their promotion.
Bulletin: Ask the pastor if you can create inserts that
highlight the needs of unreached peoples. Include a list of calls
for missionaries (short-term and career) from the General Conference
of Seventh-day Adventists, Adventist Frontier Missions and others.
This will help church members know the possibilities for service.
Particularly look for opportunities that match the careers in your
congregation. Use excerpts from this guide as needed.
Newsletter: Have a section on missions in every newsletter.
Highlight needs, include fascinating stories and what your church
is doing.
Social Committee: Plan events that celebrate the cultures
and festivals of church members. Partner with an ethnic group in
the community for such an event. This will acquaint church members
with the needs right around them. Take excursions, prayerfully visit
temples, mosques and cultural centers. Pray before you go. Discuss
and pray on your return.
Bulletin Board: Ask to have a bulletin board in the lobby
to highlight mission needs and activities. Update and change
it often to maintain interest.
Women's Ministries: Challenge them to take on the needs
of underprivileged women overseas.
